The July festival kicks off on Monday 17th for four days of top class racing, style, glitz, glamour plus an unrivalled race day atmosphere. The feature on Thursday, ‘Dawn Ladies Day’ once again sees Killarney Races become a hub for the latest style and fashion trends. This year’s best dressed competition will be judged by top Irish model and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant Thalia Heffernan plus multiple All Ireland winner, Kerry GAA legend and winner of ‘DWTS’, Aidan O’Mahony who will be on the lookout for the most stylish gents!
On Monday, a fun filled Family Evening gets the Festival off to a winning start. Bouncy Castles, Face Painting, a children’s activities area plus much more will keep the family entertained throughout the evening.
Monday also sees a very special occasion take place at Killarney Racecourse. It is with great honour that we are able to host an evening of celebration with the legend that is Colm ‘Gooch’ Cooper in our Panoramic Restaurant. The action continues out on track on Tuesday evening for a mixed card of Jumps & Flat Racing. Wednesday sees Killarney Racecourse play host to some of the 2017 Rose of Tralee contestants and the Roses will be on hand to meet the public and to present the prize to the winning connections of the aptly named ‘Meet the Roses at the Races’ Ladies Flat Race.
Thursday, ‘Dawn Ladies Day’, is the highlight of the July Racing Festival, and is one of the most prestigious Ladies Days on the racing calendar. The fashion and style stakes are always high for the Dawn sponsored competition and the judge this year, Thalia Heffernan, will be keeping an eye out for Ladies who are elegant and that stand out from the crowd. Aidan O’Mahony will be on the search for Killarney Races most dapper gentleman with truly amazing prizes to be won. We’ve a trip for two to Paris up for grabs for the ladies while our winning gent will bag a trip for two to Milan thanks to Dawn Dairies!
The Festival features 29 races over four days, generously sponsored by local, national and international businesses. With an impressive total prize fund of just under €500,000 on offer there is sure to be plenty of runners from Ireland’s top stables.
